We had a fantastic weekend in London watching the HSBC Sevens World Series (London) at Twickenham. Initially I was a little dubious about spending ALL weekend watching game after game, but in the end, I was sorry we couldn’t stay for the final to see Scotland claim the glory.
The party atmosphere wound its way through the crowds; people went all out for the fancy dress under-the-sea theme, whilst the live music, have-a-go games, street food and good weather added to the fun. Photographywise, I gorged on opportunities to photograph fans, the sport, the music and more. My large and rather cumbersome Canon 100-400mm f/4-5.6 (MK I) mounted on a Canon 7D MKII was a bit of a beast to handle without a monopod and whilst being jostled by exuberant fans. Anyhoo, here are just few of the rugby shots -tomorrow I’ll post my favourite fan photos!
As I start to compile my professional portfolio, I can’t help wondering how one gets a gig, photographing events like this!
