We arrived bleary eyed at Penzance train station just before 8am. The shuttle bus took us to the airport at Land’s End where we hopped on a tiny, 6 seater propeller plane. We laughed nervously as the pilot turned around to tell us to ‘fasten our seatbelts’ and enjoy the ride. He told us to stay seated until the plane came to a complete stop…you couldn’t do anything but stay seated. It was like being in a sardine tin (or ready made coffin) with wings – there’s no likelihood of escape should one find oneself plummeting towards the sea. 15 minutes later we arrived on St Mary’s in the Scilly Isles and were swiftly transferred by boat to our destination – Tresco. We spent the afternoon getting our bearings – photography was pretty far from my mind as I settled into relaxation mode.
